How to Avoid the Black Friday Crowds

How to Avoid the Black Friday CrowdsWhat’s going on everyone? Can you believe that it’s already November? It seems like it was just July and I was in Detroit on vacation. Time is not playing around.

It’s coming! It will be here before you know it. What am I talking about? I am talking about Black Friday. Some people love Black Friday while others hate it. I’m not a fan of it at all. During the past few years, the crowds have gotten worse. People are disrespectful and rowdy at times. I have never been shopping on Black Friday and probably never will. Here are a few ways to avoid the Black Friday crowds.

Shop online

Shopping online is a great way to avoid the Black Friday crowds. You can do that any time of the day. You can shop online at work during your lunch break or in the comfort of your own home. You may want to wait until Cyber Monday because there will be various deals going on all day. I’d suggest that you sign up with your favorite stores so that you can get e-mail alerts. Some of them will have sales before Black Friday. You don’t want to miss out on the deals.

Don’t shop at peak times

Another way to avoid the crowds is to not shop during peak times. I’m not exactly sure what those times would be since I haven’t shopped on Black Friday before. If I had to guess I would think early in the morning or late in the evening would not be peak times. A lot of people eat and drink very good on Thanksgiving. They will be too tired to get up at the crack of dawn to go shopping. You may get lucky and is able to get some shopping done before the crowd gets there.

Shop at stores that aren’t as popular

While everyone is at the mall or the large department stores you could shop at stores that aren’t as popular. I’ll be the first to tell you that stores such as Walmart, Target, & Apple will be busy. They are name brands that people are familiar with. Check out some mom and pop stores. They shouldn’t be as crowded. Also, you may be able to get into some outlet stores quicker as well.

Shop during the year

My last and final way on how to avoid the Black Friday crowd is to shop throughout the year. Believe it or not, Black Friday isn’t the only time of the year where there are sales. You just have to be on the lookout for them. Signing up for your favorite brand’s newsletter or following them on social media are a couple of ways that you may be able to find some deals.

Those are just a few ways to avoid the Black Friday crowds. I know some people get a rush from shopping on that day. I am not one of them. People are crazy, and I don’t want to get trampled. If you do shop on Black Friday, make sure that you keep these tips in mind. Have a plan. Make sure you know when and where you want to shop at. The worst thing that you can do on Black Friday is to backtrack or get stuck in traffic when you didn’t have to.

Do you shop on Black Friday? Why or why not?

  1. Tried Black Friday once many years ago…NEVER again! Especially now when stores offer the same discounts several times during the holidays and also the internet. I try to avoid “crazy” at all costs!

  2. I was always one to do my Christmas shopping super early. I would try to be all done and wrapped up (literally) by Thanksgiving avoiding all the nasty holiday crowds. The people that wait until Christmas Eve are nuts. It makes the holidays so miserable and really takes the fun out of it. Thank goodness now for online shopping. And with the deals you can get online and a lot of time free shipping, not to mention all the time you save – WOW. What a relief!

  3. Jason, you’re right on with those tips. Me, I just stay home and ignore the whole day.

  4. Haha, it seems like ever years I try to avoid the holiday shopping scene and then find myself in some really crowded store that tries my nerves. I am big on online shopping though. It helps a lot and makes the inevitable outings into the madness more bearable.

  5. I normally buy over the internet so I avoid the crowds. I remember Bill O’Rielly from Foxnews saying, the best deals are in July.

  6. I’m going to avoid them by just staying home and not doing any shopping this year. 🙂

  7. Good tips that I follow especially the shopping online tip. Planning to upgrade our 5 year old smart-turned-dumb-and-very-slow phone, and also get another laptop, because with the blogging and side hustles, it’s becoming difficult to share one laptop. So online shopping it is.
