I am so glad that spring is here. It means better weather, longer daylight hours and baseball. For the people who have been stuck in the house all winter, this is the perfect time for them to take a vacation. In today’s post, I want to share with you 10 places that you can travel to this spring.

Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. is one of my favorite cities in the country. There are always things to do there. A few events that you can check out this spring are The National Cherry Blossom Festival, DC Jazz Festival, Filmfest DC, and a Washington Nationals baseball game.

Orlando, FL

Orlando is the home of Walt Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks. Spring is a busy time because college kids take over the area for spring break and high schoolers come down for grad night. Orlando is still worth visiting, though. A few events to consider are The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, Florida Film Festival, and Mardi Gras at Universal Studios.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan is Puerto Rico’s capital city. It is also the most popular destination in PR. Some events that occur during the spring are the Puerto Rico Comic Con, Puerto Rico Restaurant Week, and Saborea Puerto Rico.

Rio de Janiero, Brazil

Rio de Janiero is the 2nd most populated city in Brazil. The weather there is typically pleasant year round with an average high of 81 degrees.  A few events worth checking are The Rio Circuit, The Rio Boat Show, and Victory Day.

London, England

London is the capital of England. This is one of the top cities that I would like to visit. From what I’ve been reading, there is always something to do over there. Circus Fest, The London Marathon, and the London Coffee Festival are a few events that happen in the spring.

Vancouver, BC, Canada

Vancouver is a city in British Columbia, Canada. It is one of the most diverse cities in Canada. A few events worth checking out are the International Children’s Festival, The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, and The Vancouver Craft Beer Week.

Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky. They have several events going on during the spring such as The Kentucky Derby Festival, The Kentucky Reggae Festival, and The Kentucky Derby.

San Francisco

San Francisco is one of the largest cities in northern California. The Macy’s Flower Show, The San Francisco Green Film Fest, The Union Street Festival and San Francisco Giants baseball are a few of the things that are happening in the spring.

Kauai, Hawaii

Kauai is the fourth largest Hawaiian Island. Tourism is their largest industry. Some events to check out are The Earth Day Rising Festival and The Annual Taste of Hawaii.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Punta Cana is a very popular tourist destination in the Dominican Republic. The weather there is tropical. The Punta Cana Food and Wine Fest is a good event to check out.

To learn more about these spring travel destinations you can check out TripAdvisor. You can find reviews and lists of other things to do. I know that some of those places are a little more expensive than others. If you’re booking a flight, I would start out by checking the prices on Southwest Airlines. They usually have sales, and you can check two bags for free. Unfortunately, Southwest doesn’t fly to all of those locations.

Do you have any spring trips planned? If so, where?

  1. I am glad you put Washington, DC on this list. That’s where I live!

This Spring, I am not traveling anywhere. I am going to be exploring my own city!

  3. No Spring travels for me, but going to Vegas this Summer (tentatively – hopefully booking this weekend) as well as Fort Lauderdale/Miami. The other trip I have planned is San Diego for FinCon. It will be my first FinCon so I’m really looking forward to it.

  4. London, or anywhere in Europe. Great list you have build here. Thank you!

  5. Love this destination list! Traveling has always good to get some new ideas of where to go.

  6. No travel plans this year as we are working towards a major holiday next year. Can you believe we are fast approaching the month of May?

Of the countries you have listed, I would like to visit San Fransisco and Hawai.

  7. If I had a choice I would go to London, England, on to Scotland and then to Holland where I was born. That to me would be the trip of a lifetime. I would also love to visit the Washington Cherry Blossom Festival – have seen pictures of that and they look amazing.
Like the way you added links to different events.

  8. Good selection Jason. I’ve been to many of these, and they all of have a little something different to offer. I really do love D.C., it’s such a dynamic city as is London. I’ve been to every U.S. state except Alaska, and traveled all over Canada and would love to return one day. Island-wise, well I live on Maui so I’m kind of partial in that regard. No trips planned for me this spring as I’m too busy working, but I’m hoping to get to the mainland for a nice long road trip this fall. I really love that season the best, the turning leaves, the first chill of winter, etc. Thanks for the suggestions and incentive to get back to work so I can start traveling again!

  9. Love your list of places to visit in the Spring. Glad to see London on the list!! It’s always beautiful in London but Spring is an exceptionally beautiful time to visit. San Francisco, Orlando and Washington DC are my favourite cities too. Each has something unique to offer.

  10. Lots of great ideas for a spring trip, Jason. Puerto Rico is one of my favorites but I like to get beyond San Juan and see the rest of the island. I love the southern coast where I’ve stayed several times in a small resort called Copamarina in Guanica. Also have enjoyed Rincon on the west side of the island and the Fajardo area on the east coast. In fact, I’ve yet to find a part of the island that I didn’t like.

  11. I lived and worked in London for about two-and-a-half years in the 1990s. One of the coolest things about London is something you don’t hear much about: it’s got a really nice collection of public parks, each with its own character. London also has an awesome selection of restaurants, one of the best in the world. By all means go visit, and springtime is weather-wise a good time to go.
