If you’re younger than 21 years old you may or may not have thought about drinking alcohol before. I can’t lie I had a few drinks before I turned 21. It’s not anything that I’m proud of, but it happened. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Unfortunately it happens a lot. Here are a few reasons that you shouldn’t drink until you are at least 21 years of age.
It’s actually illegal for you to drink if you are under 21. There is a possibility that you could go to jail. That’s no place that you want to be especially if you are a good student. A record can mess up your life.
You can become an alcoholic. Alcoholics can’t seem to put the bottle down. They drink all the time. That affects ALL aspects of their lives and also their families.
If you drink too much alcohol you can develop alcohol poisoning. Some of the symptoms are vomiting, seizures, slow breathing and possibly death.
Alcohol use interacts with stress and depression. It could make you suicidal.
Drinking & Driving
Don’t put yours or someone else’s life in danger. Do not drink and drive. Drinking slows your motor skills. Below is a video of someone who made that fatal mistake.
Affects your grades
It could affect your grades. I’m pretty sure if you’re drinking a lot you’re not studying for you classes. You’re too busy trying to “turn up” instead of focusing on school.
Change your attitude
Alcohol can change your attitude. I have seen people go from Bruce Banner to the Incredible Hulk after a few drinks. You do not want to do something or say something that you will regret.
Underage drinking causes a lot of problems. I’m not saying that these problems will go away if you are older than 21, but they are usually less prevalent. What other problems does underage drinking cause?
